Trash Can Mural Project

The "Trash Can Mural Project" was a project created in collaboration with the Mississippi Watershed Management Organization, the City of Columbia Heights, the Columbia Heights Library and Author Cole Williams. The goal of this project was to use art as a means to educate youth living in Columbia Heights about the Mississippi Watershed. A week long summer camp was held at the Columbia Heights Library where youth were introduced to the watershed, learned how Author Cole Williams draws inspiration from the river, created art in response to Cole Williams poetry and helped to created two "Trash Can Murals" that were later installed along Central Avenue in Columbia Heights.
